We have a wonderful opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our fantastic team at Ivetsey Bank Hospital School, to support and help our patients/pupils with their education and social development, both in and out of the classroom. You will be working across age groups between the ages of 12 to 18.
What you'll be working:
- Term time only
- 32.5 hours per week
- 08:30am to 15:30pm Monday to Friday
What you'll be doing:
- Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
- Monitor pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed
- Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievement, progress, problems etc.
- Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
- Act as an exam invigilator
- Working 1:1 with pupils requiring extra time with tasks, or increased support
- You may be asked to deliver a topic or a lesson to a small group of pupils
- Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required
What you'll have:
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbally
- Ability to keep calm in difficult situations
- Ability to create positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Help with administrative tasks, this may require helping with Link Teacher tasks
- Effective use of ICT to support learning
- Patience and empathy, responding sensitively to pupils’ needs
- Basic understanding of child development and learning
- Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
- Experience of working with children with ADHD / ASD desirable but not essential
- Experience working in a school environment or other educational setting
- Experience planning and delivering learning activities
