About the role

We’re looking to recruit a Part Time Support Worker to care for our cheerful 17-year-old male client in Hullbridge. The client lives at home with his family. He has a warm personality and enjoys music, sensory toys, and spending time outdoors. He particularly loves musical instruments (the rainmaker is his favourite!) and enjoys going to school and getting out for days in the community. The client has complex medical needs following a brain injury at birth which has resulted in cerebral palsy and quadriplegia. He communicates in his own unique way through sounds and behaviours, and with patience and consistency you will learn to understand what he enjoys and how he expresses himself. The client requires a calm, attentive support worker who is confident supporting young people with complex health needs and who can provide safe, compassionate care in the family home.

Support Duties

  • Full personal care and continence support
  • PEG feeding, hydration and medication administration
  • Respiratory care including nebulisers, cough assist, physio, NP and oral suction and oxygen support
  • Epilepsy monitoring and rescue medication
  • Hoist transfers and wheelchair support
  • Close observation due to complex medical needs
  • Sensory play, music and community activities

This role would suit someone who is kind, patient, and attentive, and who enjoys building meaningful relationships while supporting a young person with complex care needs.

Working hours

2 shifts a week: 1 x weekday shift (8am-4pm) and 1 x Saturday shift (10am-3pm). Plus flexibility to cover other weekday day shifts (8am-4pm) and Friday/Saturday waking nights (10pm-7am) when needed. Part-time - 2 regular shifts a week with flexibility to cover additional day or night shifts when other support worker is off. In this role, you’ll support one individual with complex needs, working regular weekly shifts to build a consistent, trusted care team. While hours are usually stable, the position is offered on a zero-hours contract as care packages can change.

What to look forward to

Earnings up to £13.50 per hour (depending on experience). Full specialist training, shadow shifts, and ongoing support from your Care Manager. Access to the Active Learning Hub – e-learning therefore this role is exempt from the Equality Act 2010 Part Schedule 9.
