We are seeking to appoint a motivated qualified teacher specialising in English working with KS3/4 with the ability to support KS5. The successful candidate will be working in small groups and one-to-one with students. As a small hospital school our teachers are often required to teach other subjects, so the ability to support or teach other subjects would also be desirable but not essential.

Ivetsey Bank Hospital is a Tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) hospital for young people aged 12-18. We specialise in supporting young people with severe or complex mental health conditions who need intensive inpatient treatment. We are dedicated to providing caring, supportive, recovery-focused treatment and we achieve this by working together with our young people, their families and other professionals. Our facilities include, Ofsted registered on-site school, High intensity suite, Occupational therapy kitchen, Gym, Outdoor sports area, including a basketball court, Three cabins for therapy, keep fit and a multi-faith cabin.

What you\’ll be working:

  • 3 full days Per Week, 22.5 hours per week.
  • Term Time Only
  • Main pay scale, depending on experience .

What you\’ll be doing:

Our school is part of the Active Care Group which caters for up to 37 young people aged 12-18yrs being treated in an inpatient Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (Tier 4 CAMHs).

In our recent Ofsted inspection we were rated good. Students enjoy school; they say, β€˜I like doing schoolwork – it acts as a break away from the fact that you are in hospital; it is probably the most normal part of being an inpatient. ’Staff have high expectations of students and they gently encourage them to try their best in every lesson. Students consider that the belief and constant encouragement from staff really helps their recovery

You will join a supportive and experienced team of dedicated education and support staff. Full training and development will be provided along with a bespoke induction programme and the ability to network with teachers from our other Active Care Group site. With the support of colleagues, you will develop the skills, confidence and experience to deal with the challenging but rewarding environment within a specialist field.

What you\’ll have:

The successful applicant should have a passion and commitment for providing creative and high quality learning experiences, be responsible for teaching on a small group basis, designing and implementing a programme of study. With a dynamic and inclusive approach you will have high expectations for our students and the drive to help them achieve the best possible learning outcomes. As a skilled teacher you will have an empathic approach and the ability to be flexible and adapt to individual needs.

Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
