We are looking for an experienced Team Leader to work across our Croydon and Caterham Services, Cedars Road, Byron Road and Oak Rise, to support our complex supported living services.

Role Purpose

To provide strong, trauma-informed and proactive leadership within a complex supported living service. The Complex Team Leader supports the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care through Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), ensuring that all care practices promote dignity, respect, independence and improved quality of life for the individuals supported. The role deputises for the Service Manager in their absence, taking operational responsibility for staff leadership, rota planning, quality assurance, incident management, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Working collaboratively with the Service Manager, the role supports the completion of audits, training compliance, data analysis, and service improvement initiatives. A core focus of the role is coaching, mentoring and upskilling staff to deliver trauma-informed support, ensuring consistent implementation of PBS strategies, high-quality recording, and meaningful analysis of trends to shape effective support plans.

What you’ll be working

  • Full time hours 42 hours per week
  • Location: Working across Croydon and Caterham services
  • Salary: £37,000 per annum pro rata
  • Weekend working is a requirement and is based on the needs of the service.

What you’ll be doing

  • Deputise for the Service Manager during periods of absence, ensuring continuity, safety and effective service operation.
  • Lead daily practice across shifts, providing proactive guidance, coaching and decision-making.
  • Support with the management of rotas effectively to ensure safe staffing levels, skill-mix and appropriate deployment of staff.
  • Conduct return-to-work meetings, welfare checks and performance-related conversations.
  • Facilitate and lead supervisions, debriefs, reflective practice sessions and team huddles.
  • Support the induction and ongoing development of staff, modelling trauma-informed and PBS-aligned approaches.
  • Participate in On Call duties as the service requires.
  • Champion and embed a PBS framework across the service.
  • Review and analyze data from systems including Nourish and incident reports.
  • Work with the Service Manager and PBS practitioners on Behaviour Support Plan updates.
  • Ensure documentation and risk assessments are accurate and up to date.
  • Contribute to quality assurance and regulatory inspection readiness.
  • Support safe medication practices including audits and stock checks.
  • Ensure support is person-centred, empowering and promotes independence.
  • Oversee personalised routines and meaningful activity plans.
  • Support individuals with care needs, health tasks and community engagement.
  • Maintain effective communication with families and professionals.

Health, Safety & Safeguarding

  • Promote a culture of safety, transparency and safeguarding.
  • Report and review incidents and concerns appropriately.
  • Conduct environmental checks and health & safety tasks.
  • Uphold dignity, rights and confidentiality at all times.

What you’ll have

  • Substantial experience working in adult residential or supported living services.
  • Experience in Complex Care or similar services.
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex needs, learning disabilities, autism, or physical health conditions is desirable.
  • Experience in a Team Leader or similar role.
  • Experience with behavioural support strategies (desirable).
  • NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Adults) or equivalent.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to support others effectively.
  • Ability to remain calm and solution-focused in challenging situations.
  • Understanding of adult safeguarding, mental capacity, and person-centred care principles.
  • Strong understanding of PBS, trauma-informed care and person-centred practice.
