About the role
Active is expanding and we’re looking for a Registered Building Inspector (RBI), Class 2A to deliver high-quality inspections and plan checks across residential and small commercial projects. You’ll ensure full compliance with Building Regulations (England & Wales) and provide clear, practical guidance to clients and project teams.
Responsibilities
- Inspect buildings and construction works for compliance with Building Regulations.
- Evaluate plans, specifications and site works for fire safety, structural integrity, accessibility, energy efficiency and other regulatory standards.
- Determine outcomes on Full Plans applications, Building Notices, and related submissions.
- Advise developers, architects, contractors and the public on compliance issues and best practice.
- Enforce regulations where necessary, including issuing breach notices or escalating to enforcement bodies.
- Maintain accurate records, site notes and inspection reports for audit and legal purposes.
- Liaise with local authorities, authorised inspectors and statutory bodies.
- Sign off and issue completion certificates following satisfactory consultation and compliance.
About you
- Registered Building Inspector (RBI) – Class 2A (essential).
- Strong working knowledge of Building Regulations (England & Wales) and relevant guidance.
- Solid experience in site inspections and plan checking.
- Clear written and verbal communication; confident advising multiple stakeholders.
- Organised, detail-driven, and comfortable managing your own caseload.
