About the Role
Activate Learning is looking for a Facilities & Maintenance Officer to join our team at Guildford College. This full‑time, permanent role ensures the campus remains safe, clean, and secure to support teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out a variety of tasks, including unlocking and securing buildings, general maintenance (repairs, painting, decorating), setting up events, moving furniture, and supporting campus activities.
- Monitor site security, respond to helpdesk requests, maintain external areas, and manage waste and recycling.
- Daily maintenance and estates support.
- Health & safety and compliance checks.
- Grounds upkeep and weather‑related clearing.
- On‑call duties every fourth week.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work.
- Cross‑campus support as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proactive, solutions‑focused individual with a strong team ethic and a customer‑first approach to facilities support.
- Capable of performing routine maintenance, ensuring health and safety compliance, and responding swiftly to on‑site issues.
- Practical experience with general maintenance and basic DIY tasks.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures and relevant legislation (including Safeguarding and the Equality Act 2010).
- Ability to assess and resolve minor issues independently before escalating to contractors.
- Competence with basic IT tools and app‑based reporting systems.
