We are seeking a committed and experienced Therapeutic Counselling Tutor to join our Higher Education team at Activate Learning. You will play a vital role in delivering our Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, helping to shape the professional and personal development of aspiring counsellors.
You will deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment to adult learners undertaking counselling qualifications aligned with BACP ethical standards. You will support learners in developing core competencies, reflective practice, and readiness for placement and professional accreditation.
This is a permanent, part-time position working 28.8 hours per week (0.8 FTE), but we are open to discussions around a reduced hours contract for the right candidate.
What do you need to be successful as a Counselling Teacher at Activate Learning?
We are looking for individuals who can serve as role models for our learners, ensuring they graduate with not only professional qualifications but also the skills needed to succeed in the workplace.
- A recognised Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (minimum 420 guided learning hours)
- A degree or master’s degree in Counselling or a related field (Master’s level preferred)
- Registered membership of BACP, UKCP, NCS, or an equivalent recognised professional body
- Completion of at least 10 hours of personal therapy
- Evidence of ongoing CPD (minimum 30 hours annually)
- Current supervised counselling practice with a minimum of 6 months’ post-qualifying experience
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training) or actively working towards one
- At least 1 year’s experience teaching and assessing at Level 3 or above
- Ideally you’ll also have familiarity with online or blended learning delivery models.
