We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Teacher to join our Animal Management team at Merrist Wood Campus. In this role, you will deliver education and training to students primarily in Level 3 BTEC Animal Management and T Level courses in areas such as animal biology, breeding, genetics, and the business element of animal management. You will also support safe working practices, study skills, welfare and ethics. The position is part-time, 29.6 hours per week (0.8 FTE), and based at the Merrist Wood College campus. You will work within a cutting‑edge £4 million animal management centre that houses a wide range of species on a 400‑acre campus. You will also act as a Study Programme Owner, maintaining communication with families, holding regular one‑to‑one meetings, monitoring student progress and collaborating closely with subject teachers to ensure students reach their full potential.

What you need to be successful:

  • Enthusiastic and motivated.
  • Hold a Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject area such as Animal Management or Science.
  • Have a teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one.
  • Previous work history in an FE environment, ideally delivering units associated with Animal Science topics (BTEC) or working in an Animal Science area.
  • Ideally, you will have a higher level animal management or science qualification, experience teaching T‑Level qualifications, and experience of assessing would be highly desirable.
  • You should also be capable of engaging with students at all levels to maximise their strengths, prepare them for success, and experienced in working with and teaching students with special educational needs.
  • Your communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to deliver engaging and effective lessons to a diverse range of learners.
  • You will have strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workloads, and will thrive as part of a supportive team with numerous opportunities for career development.
