We are seeking an enthusiastic Job Coach to join our supportive team at Reading College. In this role, you will provide tailored support to young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) enrolled in our Employability Programmes, within the Learners with Learning Difficulties or Disabilities (LLDD) department.
As a Job Coach, you’ll play a vital role in helping students of all abilities develop key employability skills through active participation in our Learning Companies. Working closely with the Learning Company Coordinator, you’ll ensure the smooth daily operation of these work-based learning environments. Flexibility is key, as you may be required to support across multiple Learning Companies based on need.
In addition to delivering practical coaching and guidance, you will monitor student progress, assess performance, and mentor learners in achieving their individual goals and learning outcomes. This is a permanent, part-time role working 35 hours per week during term-time (0.80 FTE) based at our Reading College.
What do you need to be a successful SEND job coach at Activate Learning?
This could be the perfect role for someone with experience in a coaching or mentoring role, or as a teaching assistant or learning support assistant. We're looking for someone with a passion for helping our learners develop the skills they'll go on to use in the rest of their careers and lives.
To thrive in this role, you will have:
- Extensive experience working with young people with SEND
- The ability to break down tasks and provide clear, structured instructions to support learner understanding.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, and external partners.
- Experience in a Further Education (FE) environment is desirable, though not essential.
