Activate Learning is excited to invite a dedicated and experienced Barbering Teacher to join our team, where you will play a key role in delivering exceptional teaching and learning experiences to students pursuing the VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Barbering, with 7 hours a week teaching our level 1-2 hairdressing learners as well. This position offers the opportunity to shape the next generation of barbers by equipping students with both practical and theoretical skills necessary for success in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver lessons that cover the full scope of the barbering curriculum.
  • Assess student progress and provide essential support and guidance to help each student reach their potential and prepare for a career in barbering.
  • Teach at our Reading College campus; must be available to teach two evenings per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with later starts on other days to compensate.

Role Details

  • Location: Reading
  • Contract: Permanent at Reading College campus
  • Hours: Full-time 37 hours or part-time 29.6 hours per week (0.8 FTE)
  • Delivery: 7 hours per week for Level 1-2 hairdressing learners in addition to barbering duties

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Level 2 (or higher) qualifications in Barbering and hairdressing are essential.
  • Experience in delivering education or training is highly desirable.
  • A teaching or assessing qualification would be desirable.
  • Up-to-date experience and knowledge of the hairdressing and barbering industries; ability to inspire and motivate learners.
