About the role:

Activate Learning is looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring Careers and Employability Tutor to join our team in Oxford. The primary responsibility is to implement our career readiness and employability framework curriculum for groups of students, developing their employability skills and preparing them for work experience placements aligned with their career aspirations and supporting their progression. The role involves engaging with employers to secure diverse placement opportunities for the students including managing the work experience process through the Grofar placement system. You will also act as the tutor for your assigned students, overseeing their progress reviews and collaborating with other tutors to support their learning journey. This is a permanent, part‑time role working 8 hours per week at 10:45‑13:15 Wednesdays and 9:30‑15:00 Fridays (0.22 FTE) at our City of Oxford College Campus.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate resilience and empathy to support students to succeed and encourage them to reach their potential. In addition, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will have an open mindset and attitude towards technology and virtual learning tools. Along with current Maths and English skills, you will also demonstrate the ability to engage and develop students and role‑model the attributes that we develop within our learners. You will also need to be confident in a classroom setting, with the ability to engage learners while delivering material.
