We are seeking committed and experienced Counselling Teachers to join our Higher Education team at Activate Learning. You will play a vital role in delivering and co-tutoring our Level 2-4 Diplomas in Therapeutic Counselling, helping to shape the professional and personal development of aspiring counsellors. You will deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment to adult learners undertaking counselling qualifications aligned with BACP ethical standards. You will support learners in developing core competencies, reflective practice, and readiness for placement and professional accreditation.
We have two permanent, part-time contracts available at our Guildford College Campus, teaching on Tuesdays and Thursdays with flexible admin time around these. One would work 16.9 hours per week (0.49 FTE), and the other would work 19.9 hours per week (0.54 FTE) and have additional responsibilities as a programme coordinator.
What do you need to be successful as a Counselling Teacher at Activate Learning?
- A recognised Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (minimum 420 guided learning hours)
- A degree or master’s degree in Counselling or a related field (Master’s level preferred)
- Registered membership of BACP, UKCP, NCS, or an equivalent recognised professional body
- Completion of at least 10 hours of personal therapy
- Evidence of ongoing CPD (minimum 30 hours annually)
- Current supervised counselling practice with a minimum of 6 months’ post-qualifying experience
While previous teaching experience or qualification would be an advantage, it is not a requirement. As long as you have the qualifications or experience to teach on our Business courses and demonstrate the attributes to be an inspirational teacher, we can provide you with the necessary training, development and support to equip you to teach in the FE sector. To be suitable for the additional hours and responsibilities as a programme coordinator you should also have a supervision qualification or be willing to work towards this.
