The Company: Low Carbon Energy in partnership with Activ8 Solar Energies & SSE Airtricity are seeking an ambitious Commercial Sales Director to help drive our continued growth journey. Low Carbon Energy is a family-owned renewable energy company specialising in Commercial Solar PV projects for high profile clients across the UK and Ireland. The Role
As Commercial Sales Director, you will take full ownership of the sales pipeline with the responsibility of leading Low Carbon Energies commercial sales strategy and driving revenue growth across the UK. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take ownership of sales performance in the commercial and industrial (C&I) sector. As a senior leader your ability to blend technical understanding, commercial acumen, and commercial solar expertise will be critical in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver LCE’s commercial sales strategy to achieve ambitious revenue and market growth targets.
- Manage and optimise the opportunity and sales funnel through the commercial sales team
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in large organisations
- Develop new lead and sales channels in line with sales strategy and key industries and sectors
- Lead, coach, and expand the commercial sales team, instilling a culture of accountability, high performance, and customer focus.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to enhance our sales messaging, content and collateral
- Lead the preparation and submission of high-quality tender documents, ensuring compliance with client requirements and deadlines.
- Negotiate contracts, manage the sales cycle, and ensure deals are closed effectively.
- Collaborate with technical and project delivery teams to align proposals with client needs.
- Stay informed on industry trends, market dynamics, and government policies impacting renewable energy.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven track record as a Sales Director, Commercial Director, or senior business development leader in the renewable energy, utilities, or infrastructure sector.
- Deep knowledge of the UK energy market, particularly solar PV and related technologies.
- Experience in managing & developing relationships with introducing partners
- Demonstrated success in selling to large organisations, including negotiating and closing high-value
- Good knowledge of funding options including PPA contracts
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust with stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge of renewable energy policies, incentives, and market
- Passion for sustainability and alignment with Low Carbon Energy and Activ8’s mission
