We are Action Tutoring, a national education charity that offers free maths and English tutoring to pupils facing disadvantage. As an English or maths volunteer, you will choose one of our partner schools and work with 1‑3 pupils for an hour a week over 10‑20 weeks, either at the school or online. Sessions will be scheduled at the same time each week. You can support children preparing for their SATs (ages 9‑11) or GCSEs (ages 14‑16). We provide all tutors with induction training, workbooks, a DBS check, and travel expenses up to £5 per session.
What will I be doing?
- Tutoring 1‑3 pupils in Year 5 or 6, or Year 7, 10 or 11.
- Commit to one hour a week, for up to 20 weeks, choosing the day and time.
- Use our tutor workbooks to guide pupils through activities that boost confidence and grades.
