Join our dedicated team as a Family Support - Community Navigator, supporting famiies to access services across Oldham. You will work directly with families, helping them understand and access the wide range of support available, according to their need. From Family Hubs and community groups to specialist services, you will help families build confidence, overcome barriers, and connect with the support they need.

This is a practical, people-centred role combining outreach, peer support, community engagement and partnership working. You’ll spend time in local communities, schools, libraries, clinics and Family Hubs, building relationships and ensuring families feel welcomed, included and heard. Your main base will be one of the Best Start Family Hubs in Oldham (exact base to be agreed on appointment).

Responsibilities

  • Connect families with local resources, services, and programs that support their well-being
  • Facilitate access to community activities and support networks to promote engagement and empowerment
  • Maintain accurate records of family interactions
  • Collaborate with community partners, schools, healthcare providers, and social service agencies to coordinate care
  • Strengthen professional networks and service collaboration

Experience needed

  • Experience working directly with children, parents or families
  • Understand the challenges families can face and are passionate about improving outcomes for children.
  • Know Oldham’s communities and value the importance of local connections.
  • Are warm, approachable and able to engage confidently with a diverse range of families and partners.
  • Have good safeguarding awareness.
  • Are confident using digital tools, social media and online communication, and building connections with service providers and the Family Hubs network
