Would you like to run a weekly digital skills session for refugees, people seeking asylum and migrants?
Rainbow Haven is a busy community centre providing a place of welcome, support and opportunity to refugees and displaced people. We are based in Gorton and welcome people from all over Manchester and the surrounding areas.
We run weekly Computer Club sessions for a group of 10 -15 adults to increase their basic skills, confidence and knowledge so that they can use computers in their daily lives. The sessions are facilitated by the Computer Club Lead and supported by a small team of volunteers who have good IT skills and speak community languages. A curriculum is available that you are welcome to adapt to the needs of our clients.
We are looking for a Computer Club Lead to prepare and facilitate these sessions.
We need someone who has:
- Ability to train and support people to learn computer skills
- Ability to work with a group of people
- Interest in inclusion and working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
- Ability to carefully plan and deliver the Computer Club sessions
- Time to commit to a regular Wednesday morning session, with extra time for planning the sessions
- Availability to start in September
We are always very interested to hear from people with lived experience of displacement.
This is a freelance position: you will be responsible for managing your own tax with HMRC, and we will need proof of your right to work in the UK before you start, and your Unique Taxpayer Reference before you can be paid.
