BHA is a leading health and social care charity that works to challenge health inequalities and support individuals, families and communities to improve their health and well-being. BHA are seeking a passionate and motivated Community Engagement & Development Worker to join our Healthy Hearts Project, improving cardiovascular health outcomes in communities experiencing the greatest health inequalities across Central and North Manchester.
You will be joining a friendly, creative and dedicated team committed to early detection, awareness and prevention of cardiovascular disease. This role focuses on leading community-based testing for cardiovascular risk factors, delivering one-to-one health advice and running group education sessions.
Overview- Lead assertive, culturally competent outreach to priority communities experiencing the greatest health inequalities.
- Deliver community-based lipid Point of Care Testing (POCT) as part of local health checks, following clinical standards.
- Run education sessions to improve understanding and self-management of heart conditions including hypertension, high cholesterol and treatment adherence.
- Build strong relationships with residents, community organisations and system stakeholders across Manchester.
- Co‑design culturally relevant engagement materials and referral pathways that improve access to and navigation through primary care.
Hours 28 hours per week, worked flexibly, including occasional evening and weekend work (for which time off in lieu will be given).
Salary NJC SCP 18, £31,537 per annum pro rata (actual salary £25,229.60 for 28 hours).
Location Manchester — delivery across Central and North Manchester.
Contract type Fixed term — 18 months (job share will be considered).
