We connect people with what’s happening in their community, develop community ideas into action, strengthen local organisations, and provide strategic influence for the charity and voluntary sector.
The Action Together team is vital in achieving the charity's purpose - to maximise opportunities to create positive social change; promote social justice and harness social benefit; and to strengthen the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector.
We're looking for people who share our values to join our team
Community Organiser- Heywood
This role will be central to developing Action Together’s approach to organising in neighbourhoods, rooted in deep listening, relationship building, and supporting residents to organise around shared priorities, shifting power into the hands of local people.
The Community Organiser will play a key role in building community power in Heywood, a town within Rochdale borough. You will work alongside local residents to grow solidarity, build their collective voice, and support action on issues that matter most to the community.
You will build strong, trusting relationships with local people, supporting the growth of community leadership and collective capacity to take positive action. A strong focus of the role will be on growing trust and connection across difference, building community cohesion, and supporting residents to challenge narratives of hate and division.
You will also support the development of local leaders, activists and campaigns across Rochdale Borough through facilitation, training, campaign strategy, coaching and mentoring, enabling individuals and groups to build the confidence, skills, and networks needed to drive positive change within their communities.
The role will also work with local VCFSE organisations and public sector partners to remove barriers, shift power, and enable long‑term community led change.
