The role
As a Community Development Worker, you’ll play a key role in building capacity in Rochdale Borough’s communities. You’ll support local people to turn their ideas into action and will strengthen existing local Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) organisations through providing organisational development support, networking spaces and training. You’ll also connect people to what’s happening in their community, promote the great work of the VCFSE sector with local stakeholders, and help more people get connected and feel proud to live in Rochdale Borough.
The ideal candidate
You’ll be passionate about tackling inequality and promoting social justice through inclusive, asset‑based community development. You’ll have experience working with people, community groups and VCFSE organisations to identify strengths, facilitate conversations, and turn ideas into meaningful action. You’ll be an experienced facilitator who is confident navigating differences, appropriately challenging where needed, and building strong, trusting relationships across diverse communities and partner organisations. You’ll understand what helps organisations develop and thrive, with experience supporting governance, funding, planning and partnership working. You’ll be organised and able to manage competing priorities, produce clear and accessible reports, and use systems to evidence impact. You’ll be comfortable representing and advocating for the VCFSE sector, bringing professionalism and a collaborative mindset to your work across Rochdale borough.
