We are looking for an experienced and motivated Nursery Deputy Manager to join a well‑established and supportive early years nursery setting. This role offers flexible part‑time shifts, making it ideal for candidates seeking work‑life balance while progressing in a childcare leadership role.

Available shifts:

  • Morning: 7:30 am – 1:30 pm
  • Afternoon: 12:30 pm – 6:30 pm

You will work both in the nursery room (supporting children’s learning and development) and in the office (supporting management and administration). The role also includes key responsibilities such as Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and SENCO duties, particularly during afternoon shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Nursery Manager with the daily running of the nursery
  • Work hands‑on with children following the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage)
  • Lead on safeguarding (DSL) and support SEN (Special Educational Needs / SENCO)
  • Supervise and support staff, ensuring high‑quality childcare and education
  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals
  • Plan and implement activities using EYFS and Montessori approaches
  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted standards, safeguarding policies, and health & safety regulations
  • Carry out administrative tasks to support smooth nursery operations

Requirements

  • Level 3 qualification in Early Years / Childcare (essential)
  • Minimum 3–4 years experience in a senior nursery role (Room Leader / Deputy Manager)
  • Experience in an Ofsted‑rated Good or Outstanding nursery
  • Strong understanding of EYFS framework
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Strong understanding of child development
  • Experience with SEN / SENCO responsibilities (preferred)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Calm, friendly, and confident in managing a team
