Action Staffing Ltd is exclusively recruiting for a motivated and experienced Deputy Nursery Manager to join a high‑achieving early years team in North London. This is a pivotal leadership role designed for an ambitious professional ready to support the daily operations of a thriving nursery and drive excellence in EYFS practice.
The Opportunity
This role offers a unique balance of Room-Based Leadership and Office-Based Administration. As the Deputy Manager you will work closely with the Nursery Manager to oversee a dedicated team of Level 3 Practitioners and ensure the highest standards of care and education for children aged 0–5.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Support: Support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the setting, including staff rotas, occupancy management, and compliance.
- Pedagogical Leadership: Lead by example in the rooms, mentoring staff on In the Moment Planning (ITMP) and creative EYFS curriculum delivery.
- Safeguarding & SEND: Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and/or SENCO, coordinating support for children with additional needs and liaising with external agencies.
- Ofsted Readiness: Assist in preparing the nursery for Ofsted inspections, maintaining "Outstanding" quality standards and rigorous health and safety audits.
- Parent Partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships with families, ensuring professional handovers and high levels of parent satisfaction across North London.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualifications: Full and relevant Level 3 Diploma in Childcare (Level 5 or above is highly desirable).
- Experience: Proven track record in a Senior Room Leader or Third-in-Charge role within a professional nursery setting.
- Expertise: Deep knowledge of Safeguarding, Prevent Duty, and the Early Years Foundation Stage statutory framework.
- Skills: Strong team management abilities, excellent IT literacy, and a proactive, "can-do" approach to problem-solving.
