The Organisation: Action on Disability (AoD), founded in 1979, is one of London’s leading Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs). AoD provides four key services: Youth, Employment, Welfare Benefits, and Independent Living.

The Post: We’re looking for a passionate and enthusiastic part-time Disabled campaigner with lived experience to take on this important role. You’ll work closely with our co-produced Disabled People’s Housing Steering Group and Forum, reaching out to local Disabled residents in Hammersmith and Fulham to help build a stronger, united voice on housing. You’ll also work closely with our Housing Research Group, supporting the final stages of our research project.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting and coordinating local Disabled residents to campaign for better housing rights and conditions
  • Building up a network of Disabled housing campaigners, with access to training and peer support
  • Strengthening relationships between local Disabled residents and housing associations, council housing services, and key housing decision-makers
  • Helping people speak up, take part in forums, and influence housing policy and practice
  • Promoting the campaign locally through networking, outreach and community engagement
  • Working closely with the Housing Research Group to complete key findings and publish a co-produced report on housing
  • Amplifying the voices and experiences of Disabled residents to bring about change

About You: We are actively seeking a Disabled person with campaigning experience who is passionate about housing justice. You will bring:

  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence in organising and supporting local community-led campaigns
  • An understanding of the housing issues facing Disabled people, especially in social housing
  • A collaborative and inclusive approach to working with others
  • Experience or interest in contributing to co-produced research or reports
  • Willingness and availability to work locally in Hammersmith and Fulham
