Overview
Action For Humanity (AFH) is seeking a Finance Coordinator to join our International Office in Manchester on a full-time basis. The role offers a competitive annual salary of £33,000.

The Finance Coordinator will support both Corporate Finance and Programmes Finance functions. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, analytical, and adaptable, capable of managing multiple tasks. Experience in financial reporting, data analysis, and general accounting practices is required to ensure timely and accurate financial information for decision-making at all levels.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Analyse variances and trends against budget and forecasts; provide insightful commentary.
- Support preparation of donor financial reports in line with compliance requirements.
- Consolidate financial data across programs and departments for organizational reporting.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and mid-year reforecasts; monitor budget implementation and report variances with action points.
- Accounting & Transactions: Ensure timely processing of financial transactions (payments, journals, accruals); maintain general ledger and proper coding of income and expenditure; support month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations.
- Compliance & Controls: Adhere to financial policies, donor regulations, and statutory requirements; support audits and maintain internal controls.
- Multi-Tasking & Cross-Functional Support: Provide financial support across Corporate and Programme areas; assist with procurement, grant monitoring, or capacity-building; act as a financial liaison between departments.
- Systems & Data Management: Use financial systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) to maintain records; extract, clean, and analyse data; support digitisation and automation of reporting and processes; prepare weekly payment runs; manage supplier invoices, expenses, and credit notes; prepare and post supplier payments in GBP and other currencies; reconcile supplier statements and bank accounts; reconcile monthly credit card accounts; assist with accruals, prepayments, and month-end processing; participate in statutory accounts preparation; maintain Fixed Asset Register; manage accounts payable inbox; ensure compliance with SORP, FRS 102 and charity finance legislation; ensure backups of financial information.
- Experience with delivering high-quality financial information for management decision-making and annual reporting.
Ideal Candidate
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field (e.g., AAT)
Experience
- Minimum three years’ experience in accounting and finance
- Extensive experience in account reconciliation
- Knowledge of SORP, FRS 102 and charity finance legislation
Skills & Attributes
- Ability to critically appraise financial systems, processes and controls and to implement changes to strengthen the control environment
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, intercultural sensitivity, and confidence in dealing with partners
- Ability to work across departments and with stakeholders
- Self-motivated to learn new concepts and participate in projects
- Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to work variable hours, with occasional weekend and evening work
- Ability to supervise and prioritise a varied workload and meet deadlines
- Commitment to the work of Action for Humanity and to teamwork
- Adherence to the organisation’s policies and procedures
- Attend regular meetings with the line manager
- Provide verbal and written reports as required by the Head of Finance (HOF)
Languages
- Fluent in English, verbal and written
- Knowledge of Arabic, Urdu, French desirable
