Salary: per annum

Location: Chesterfield

Contract/Hours: Permanent/Full Time 37 hours per week

Interviews: to be held week commencing the 2nd of June 2025

A bit about the service:

Chesterfield is an exciting new residential home that offers accommodation and support for children and young people aged 18 years with both physical and learning disabilities. We pride ourselves on creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every individual can thrive.

As a Team Leader, you will play a vital role in helping our young people achieve their personal goals and develop their independence. You may be asked to sleep in on occasions and you will earn an extra £50 for each one.

A bit about the role:

In the role of Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team to create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for our children. You will supervise and support residential support workers by providing guidance and training, ensuring they understand and implement care plans effectively. You will also work with other professionals to develop and implement individualised care plans that address the specific needs of each child. Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the children at all times is crucial, which means adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures. Maintaining open effective communication with the children, their families and other professionals involved in their care is also key. In addition to these responsibilities, you will act as a direct cover for the registered manager in their absence. Furthermore, you'll handle administrative tasks such as managing rotas, maintaining records and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Create an environment where children develop essential life skills and grow in confidence.
  • Champion the rights and needs of each child, ensuring their voice is always heard and respected.
  • Foster strong trusting relationships with the children, their families and other professionals.
  • Monitor and assess individual progress and development through diary sheets and care plans.
  • Provide management to a team of staff to deliver high standards of care.
  • Lead shifts and supervise staff.
  • Support Young People to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Be an advocate for the wellbeing of the young people.
  • Lead and assess staff, carrying out supervisions and risk assessments.

  • A Level 3 diploma for Residential Childcare
  • Experience of leading a team within a care setting
  • Experience in residential short breaks or children's services
  • Experience of clear concise record keeping via IT systems

  • Understanding of GDPR, Safeguarding and relevant policies
