Role: Play Worker (qualified) with Spring Oscars

Location: Cramond, Edinburgh

Salary: £23,557 per annum (pro-rata)

Contract/Hours: Permanent/Part Time hours per week

A bit about the role:

Are you full of energy, imagination, and ready to bring your own sparkle to every day? Our breakfast and after school clubs are looking for a play worker who loves making each day unforgettable for children aged 4-11. No two days are ever the same here. One day you might be leading creative workshops, the next organising outdoor adventures, building, or exploring the local community.

As a Play Worker, you will not only bring your own personality, skills, and sparkle to the club whether that’s storytelling, sports, music or crafts but also work collaboratively with a team of play workers, helping to carry out planned activities that are safe, fun and inspiring. You will be part of a supportive team that creates a safe, fun, and inspiring environment where children can laugh, learn, and make memories.

Hours/Shifts:

This is a full-time play worker role, covering breakfast and after school clubs, with flexible administration time built into the complete your full working week.

  • Breakfast Club - Monday to Friday from 7.15am to 9am
  • After School Club - Monday to Thursday from 2pm to 6pm, and Friday from 11.30am to 6pm

What you will be doing:

  • Given dedicated daily non-contact time for paperwork and planning exciting activities for our children
  • Leading the staff within the room on providing learning programmes for individual or groups of children appropriate to their needs and developmental stages in accordance with the Early Years legislation and guidance
  • Ensuring a safe, caring, stimulating and fun environment for all the children in the club
  • Engaging effectively with the children during their time in the club
  • Planning and taking part in play and leisure activities for the children
  • Assisting with the setup of the club and preparation of snacks and breakfasts in line with healthy eating guidelines

What we need from you:

  • SCQF level 7 (which is the equivalent to SVQ Level 3) or HNC in Childcare and Education or Play Work qualification
  • First aid qualification and basic food hygiene certificate or the ability to achieve
  • A real passion to work with children, making a difference to help them thrive

On occasion you may be asked to work in other sites within the local area; any travel/mileage costs will be paid in these circumstances.
