Hillcrest house is a 5 bedded children's home providing high quality care, stability and support for children and young people who are care experienced. Our goal is to create a safe, nurturing and empowering environment where every child can thrive, build confidence and reach their full potential.
We are recruiting a Residential Team Leader (22.5 hours per week) to support the safe and effective running of the home and provide strong, compassionate leadership to the staff team. You will work flexibly across the rota as part of a 24-hour, 365-day service.
As a Residential Team Leader, you will:
- Build strong, positive relationships with children and young people through a trauma-informed and attachment-aware approach.
- Support staff to meet the needs of children and young people aged 4–18, helping them reach their full potential and achieve positive outcomes.
- Create a stimulating, nurturing, and safe environment that promotes emotional wellbeing, learning, and development.
- Lead shifts and provide clear guidance and decision-making, particularly in complex or challenging situations.
- Support children and young people to engage in activities within the service and the wider community to develop social, emotional, and life skills.
- Oversee and support day-to-day care, including emotional, social, and personal care needs.
- Ensure safe practice around medication administration, recording, and compliance with procedures.
- Line manage up to 5 staff members, providing supervision, guidance, and day-to-day support.
- Spend approximately 80% of your time on the floor, working directly alongside staff and young people, with the remaining time focused on supervision, paperwork, service development, and meetings.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and safeguarding requirements.
- Support effective partnership working with families and external professionals.
Requirements:
- An SVQ3 and HNC or equivalent.
- Experience of working with children and young people.
- Experience of leading a team and line managing staff.
- Experience of planning, prioritising and evaluating activities and own work effectively.
- The ability to work rotas providing 24/7 cover.
- Access to a car and business insurance.
