About the Role
Thanks to funding, Action for Children is bringing new employability programmes to London for the very first time, opening exciting opportunities in an area where many young people face barriers to employment.
Our service is designed to support those who need it most, including care-experienced young people, individuals with SEND, refugees and asylum seekers, those facing homelessness, and young people living in poverty. Through personalised support, the programme connects participants with training, apprenticeships, and real career opportunities, and take meaningful steps towards a brighter future.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Service Coordinator to lead and deliver a portfolio of impactful employability and early-intervention programmes supporting children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds across London.
You will play a key leadership role, overseeing programme delivery, managing staff, and ensuring high-quality support that enables young people to build confidence, develop skills, and progress into education, training, and employment.
You’ll be at the heart of a dynamic set of youth programmes empowering young people from Year 10 through to age 25. Across schools, communities and employer settings, you’ll bring energy and momentum to 1:1 coaching, group workshops, accredited training and industry‑led experiences. Your work will help young people boost their confidence, discover what’s possible, break down barriers and take bold steps toward education, training and employment. You’ll spark ambition, open doors and help young people build the skills and self‑belief to thrive.
Working collaboratively with partners, funders, and stakeholders, you will ensure programmes are delivered to a high standard, achieve outcomes, and continuously improve.
How you'll help to create brighter futures
- Lead and manage a team of practitioners to deliver engaging, high-quality programmes to young people.
- Oversee service delivery, ensuring positive outcomes for children and young people based on their assessed needs.
- Provide direct support and intervention where required, including mentoring.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with schools, employers, funders (e.g. corporate partners), and referral agencies.
- Coordinate programme planning, resourcing, and delivery.
- Lead and facilitate multi-agency meetings, reviews, and stakeholder engagement activity
- Monitor performance, track outcomes, and produce reports to inform service improvement.
- Support evaluation and continuous improvement.
- Manage delegated budgets and ensure value for money using organisational procedures
- Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and quality standards are consistently met.
Let's talk about you, ideally you will have:
- Significant experience working with children and young people (ideally 15–25), particularly those facing barriers to progression.
- Experience of leading or coordinating services, programmes, or teams in a youth, education, or employability setting.
- Strong understanding of youth development, safeguarding, and employability pathways.
- Experience of multi-agency working and relationship building.
- Ability to manage performance, monitor outcomes, and produce clear reports
- Confident in staff supervision, coaching, and team development
- Qualification(s) in youth work, social care, careers guidance, or a related field.
What You’ll Bring
- Passion for improving outcomes for young people
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- Ability to build trusted relationships with young people, colleagues, and partners
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
- A proactive approach to service development and continuous improvement
