A bit about the role:

  • As Registered Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to lead a children's home shaping it from the very start.
  • You'll build your own team, establish the culture and practice from day one, and create a safe, consistent home where our young person can feel valued, supported and able to thrive.
  • Working closely with Nottinghamshire County Council and CAMHS, you'll play a key role in helping a young person build resilience, develop positive relationships, engage in education and make safe choices.
  • As part of our collaborative partnership with CAMHS, you will receive regular clinical supervision and dedicated ongoing support.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a background or interest in children's mental health to further develop their experience while delivering the highest quality care and creating positive outcomes for children and young people.

What you do could make a difference:

  • As Registered Manager, you'll build the team and put everything in place to lay a sound foundation and secure Ofsted registration, with the support and guidance from the leadership team.
  • Lead the safe and effective day-to-day management of the home, ensuring high-quality care and support.
  • Lead and develop a skilled and consistent team around the care of our young person.
  • Develop and embed effective care planning, safeguarding and risk management practices.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and organisational standards.
  • Establish a positive culture within the home, focused on stability, relationships and achieving the best possible outcomes for the young person.

Let’s talk about you:

  • We’re looking for an existing Children’s Services Registered Manager, or an ambitious Deputy Manager/Team Leader who is ready to take their next step.
  • You’ll bring experience in children's residential care, alongside a Level 5 qualification (e.g. Diploma in Leadership and management of Residential Childcare) or be willing to work towards.
  • You’ll understand the cultural, social and ideological forces that shape a child’s development.
  • You’ll have proven ability in providing a contained and fulfilling environment for staff, promoting psychological safety to build and sustain a resilient team.

We've been driven by love to take action for children for over 150 years, giving them the protection and practical help they need.

A lot’s changed since 1869. But what children really need, hasn’t. So as long as children need us, we’ll be here.

About the Service:

You will be leading in a newly commissioned home for up to 2 young people who need a dedicated space to benefit from our therapeutic model, enabling them to develop confidence and resilience, build healthy relationships, stay engaged in learning, and make positive choices.

Our Commitment to Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism:

At Action for Children, we are committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels respected, valued, and able to thrive. We strongly welcome applications from people who are Black, Asian, or from other racialised and ethnically marginalised communities, as well as disabled people, who are currently under-represented in our workforce. We are committed to removing barriers in our recruitment processes and ensuring fair access to opportunities.
