Role: Cleaner
Salary: £24,309.07 per annum (pro-rata)
Location: Choppington, Northumberland
Contract/Hours: Permanent/Part Time – 15 hours per week – 9am to 12pm x 5 days a week

About the service:
We have an opportunity for a Cleaner to work at East Farm Cottage which is a newly developed children\’s home in the Northeast for children and young people aged 8 to 18 who are looked after.
A bit about the role
A fantastic opportunity has risen for a dedicated cleaner at our residential home in Gateshead. In this role you play a crucial part in maintaining a safe and hygienic environment for the children in our care.
You will be responsible for sweeping, mopping, dusting and vacuuming. Cleaning and sanitising bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchens and common areas. Ensuring that all areas are kept tidy and free from hazards. Checking and maintaining stock levels of cleaning supplies. And adhering to health and safety standards.
A key aspect of this role is ensuring thorough deep cleans are performed regularly. Additionally, there may be occasions when you need to iron and wash the children\’s clothes you\’ll be expected to complete a food safety training for this role.
How you’ll create brighter futures
Duties will include cleaning all communal areas, kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms. Keeping a very high standard of cleanliness whilst organising your own time and routine. You’ll also be:
- Undertaking cleaning of designated premises, work and service areas, as detailed in the cleaning schedule ensuring completion within the set timescales.
- Maintaining a stock of cleaning supplies necessary to complete tasks and where necessary, alert management to the need to replenish the stock.
- Being responsible for the safe use and storage of cleaning materials, in line with Health & Safety at Work Regulations and Action for Children policies.
- Maintaining a clean and tidy kitchen, including cleaning and safely packing away kitchen equipment, cutlery and utensils.

- Experience in a similar role is desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations (desirable)
- Good communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.
- The ability to work on your own initiative when required.
- A good knowledge of COSHH and Health and Safety at work would be beneficial.
