Salary: £13.95 an hour

Location: Yatton, North Somerset

Contract/Hours: Casual to suit your work/life balance, studies, and retirement/second job. This role will be working as a Casual for the service. Shifts are, and sleep ins are 10.00 till 10.30 the next day. You will be paid £50.00 per sleep-in.

Our Residential Support Workers create a safe and supportive environment for children and young people to grow and develop. You will ensure their wellbeing is prioritised by delivering personalised care, guidance and advocacy. It is key that they stay safe and healthy and can reach their full potential.

About the Service:

Our Place is a 3-bed permanent residential home for children and young people aged between 8 – 18 who have various learning disabilities. Action for Children strive to create a homely and supportive environment where the children can thrive and develop by us supporting them with household tasks and all aspects of their care.

Here at Our Place, we focus on making sure the children's voices are always heard and pride ourselves on providing a collaborative and caring service. We work hard to ensure the children in our care are experiencing a safe and happy childhood in a friendly, warm, and inclusive environment.

What we would like you to do:

  • Provide lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing, and managing risk.
  • Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports.
  • Attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc.

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust
  • Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families
  • Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting
  • Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role
  • Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) or if you do not possess this you must be prepared to complete this within 2 years of commencing employment with us, full support will be provided.

We will actively support you in your role and provide you with regular supervision / APR process and specialist training including a commitment to achieve Level 5, Leadership and Management qualification from our newly developed Professional Development Centre.
