We are a fast-growing Digital Transformation consultancy working primarily for the UK Public Sector and Critical National Infrastructure organisations. Our teams deliver technology-focused consultancy in a variety of complex environments. Our work covers a broad range of topics including architecture development, cyber security, programme and project management through to data engineering/analytics and AI. We have a long track record of delivery and are trusted to work on some of the UK Government’s most important and sensitive projects.

We are a National Cyber Security Centre Assured Service Provider.

The Role and Responsibilities of a Cyber Security Consultant:

As a Cyber Security Consultant, you will:

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on Information Assurance topics.
  • Develop IA strategies, policies, and awareness programs.
  • Plan and manage the delivery of security work programs.
  • Define security requirements and design robust security architectures.
  • Oversee the secure development and accreditation of information systems.

Your level of experience will determine the amount of responsibility given to you, as a result the role may require you to lead assignments and be responsible for supervising direct reports whilst ensuring the overall success of the engagement. Our position as a client-side advisor means that this role requires significant stakeholder engagement, dealing directly with the client, including in resolving day-to-day issues involved in assignment delivery and developing follow-on opportunities. Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills are essential.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide security expertise for major system procurements and Agile programs.
  • Identify, analyse, and evaluate information risks across various projects and systems.
  • Explain the causes, likelihood, and potential business impacts of information risks to stakeholders.
  • Develop security assurance documentation according to risk management frameworks.
  • Design new security architectures that address emerging technology and business practices.
  • Offer consultancy on information assurance and architectural problems.
  • Scope security testing activities and explain results and remediation steps.
  • Conduct security monitoring and investigate security incidents.

Depending on your experience, you may also lead assignments and supervise direct reports, ensuring the overall success of engagements.

A career mentor will be on hand to provide support and guidance throughout your journey with Actica. You will also work with a performance and development manager who will conduct regular reviews to set career objectives and identify training courses which are both relevant to your current project work, and aligned with your planned career progression.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Experience with complex ICT systems in a technical delivery or consulting capacity.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise information and communications technology.
  • Ability to present and justify conclusions to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in meeting client expectations and requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of structured security frameworks (HMG SPF, ISO27001).
  • Familiarity with security and enterprise architecture methods (TOGAF, SABSA).
  • Experience with technical risk assessments, software development, ICT service delivery (ITIL), and enterprise security packages.

Experience in the UK Defence and Public Sectors, especially within ICT contexts on enterprise solutions, is highly desirable. The nature of our business means that a wide and varied background is preferable and the capability to adapt quickly to change is always required.

Candidates must be eligible and willing to gain UK Government Security Clearance to apply for this position. Candidates must also be prepared for the consultancy lifestyle, which will involve frequent travel to clients’ premises and could involve living away from home for part of the week. Our office is in Guildford, Surrey but whether you are employed as office- or home-based, our work is hybrid in nature.
