We are seeking a Group Statutory & Tax Accountant on a full time, permanent basis. The Group Statutory & Tax Accountant will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the Group's statutory reporting and tax compliance obligations. The role will support the preparation of the Group consolidated financial statements, lead the preparation of UK statutory financial statements, assist overseas finance teams with local statutory reporting requirements, and support the Group Head of Tax with UK and international tax compliance activities. The postholder will work closely with external auditors, tax advisers, and finance stakeholders across the Group to ensure reporting obligations are met accurately and on time.
The role allows for hybrid working and can be based at either of our facilities in Aberdeen or Norwich, with travel required on an ad hoc basis.
Duties & Main Responsibilities
- Support in the preparation of the Group Financial Statements
- Support the year-end audit process, including preparation of audit deliverables, responding to auditor queries, and managing audit timelines.
- Prepare UK financial statements in accordance with FRS 101, including the completion of year-end impairment assessments.
- Support overseas Financial Controllers in the preparation, review and filing of local statutory financial statements.
- Prepare and communicate opening balance adjustments arising from statutory audit findings to Business Line Finance Directors and operating company finance teams.
- Support preparation and review of UK corporation tax computations and returns.
- Assist with year-end tax reporting and cash tax management including workings for Quarterly Instalment payments and Withholding Tax Management.
- Global compliance tracker management
- Liaise with external tax advisers.
- Ownership of tax processes and documentation in accordance with Senior Accounting Officer and Business Risk Review
- Support internal audits of Transfer Pricing documentation.
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge with respect to accounting standards and related industry developments.
- Deliver ad-hoc project work in connection with statutory financial data/reporting as required
- Occasional travel to other sites in UK and overseas may be required.
- Role requires flexibility to work across different time zones when necessary.
Required
- ACA/ICAS/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent
- Experience of Financial Audits, Accounts Production and UK tax compliance
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS Accounting Standards and awareness of emerging developments and future changes.
- Proficient in Excel & Word
- A technically minded qualified accountant
- Strong organisational skills with ability to plan, prioritise and work to deadlines.
- Highly numerate and literate with strong analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate across an international business.
- Experience with Accounts Production Software is preferred
- Preparation of UK tax computations or related tax experience would be desirable
