Pulse, part of Acteon Group, are a market leader in subsea structural monitoring providing highly sophisticated monitoring systems and services to both oil & gas and renewables clients around the globe since 1998. Due to our ambitious growth plans we are looking to strengthen our team in a number of roles. Pulse are looking to hire an Electrical Project Engineer on a full time, permanent basis, based at their facility in Wokingham.
This role will be supporting the Electrical project management team to ensure delivery of project deliverables for Pulse’s range of monitoring systems within the energy sector (oil, gas, renewables). Providing engineering support to, and interfacing with, Pulse’s multidisciplinary team and Pulse’s clients, throughout the project design phase, delivery, and on-site installation.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Be the central technical interface between customer, 3rd party suppliers/partners, project management and internal specialist engineering teams (software, systems, mechanical and production) and have technical oversight relation to the project.
- Support client and supplier meetings minimizing specialist engineering teams’ involvement and discipline engineers to remain available for engineering.
- Ensure customer requirements are understood and communicated to specialist engineering teams.
- Provide first line engineering support to project manager.
- Work with project managers to deliver projects on time and within budget, notifying of progress, issues, risks, challenges, new client requests etc.
- Technical support during assembly and testing (FAT, SFAT) of systems, including hands on testing and troubleshooting, developing the test plans.
- Problem solving and troubleshooting the systems during FAT, SFAT.
- Documentation control, complying with Pulse internal processes and ISO9001 documentation control.
- Client interface, understanding client requirements including trips to client facilities/offices.
- Responsible for installation and commissioning of system onsite, this will include trips to an offshore environment (circa 20 - 30 days per year).
- Communicating with internal offshore/operations teams and other 3rd party stakeholders (customers, subcontractors…).
- Provide On-Site training to Service Engineers but can equally support commissioning offshore / offsite.
- Interface with the product technology department during manufacture and testing of system components.
- Support project managers with progress reports, GANTT charts and similar other project documentation.
- Support internal testing and production of associated documentation (e.g., test reports, risk assessments).
- Support Management Team in completing any other tasks as required, within the skillsets of the individual.
Requirements:
- Engineering Degree, ideally in Electronics / Electrical Engineering.
- Preferably a few years’ experience in project environment, with exposure to mechanical and electrical systems.
- Capable of understanding wiring schematics / diagrams and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to perform wiring of electrical system would be beneficial.
- Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team during SIT phases.
- Knowledge of /or worked with PLC’s.
- Hands on and practical knowledge.
- Worked with Communications Protocols - Serial (RS232, RS485), Ethernet, Modbus or Similar.
- Worked with RF (GNSS).
- Demonstrate the ability to liaise with the client and understand their technical requirements and ensure the engineering design team delivers to client requirements.
- Computer literate, and able to configure windows OS.
- Understanding of computer hardware.
- Understanding of command line tools.
- Worked with Diagnostic tools such as oscilloscope, signal generator, multimeter, comms line tools etc.
- Experience in industry (manufacturing, hardware, electronics) preferred.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety in the workplace.
- Mechanical knowledge beneficial.
- Ability to work under pressure, particularly at project delivery time or during offshore installation.
- Ability to troubleshoot with a practical approach during system integration and installation.
- Organised & disciplined, able to manage complex delivery schedule.
- Motivated, hard-working, and focused on end goal.
- Project workload comes in cycles and can be quite high during project delivery phase.
- Evidence of organisational ability and drive.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical personnel.
- Capable to drive the project from start to delivery.
