UTEC, Acteon's Geo-services business line, harnesses data to optimise designs, save time and maximise offshore project's economic value by providing a holistic understanding of the marine environment. Our insights underpin customers' decision-making from design to asset life extension, ensuring every decision delivers. UTEC are currently looking to hire a Geospatial Assistant based in the Central Belt of Scotland (Edinburgh).
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivery of topographical, dimensional control, high definition laser scanning & utility surveys within their region. The successful candidate will ideally be a school/college/university leaver or a candidate looking to change career into the Geomatics/Survey sector.
Duties:
- To assist and liaise with the Surveyors & Senior Surveyors.
- To be responsible for setting up and operating all surveying equipment.
- To be responsible for maintaining/cleaning all surveying equipment.
- To ensure that internal administrative documentation is completed as required.
- To comply with Health & Safety standards set by the company.
- To be responsible for assisting Surveyors in carrying out topographic surveys, utility surveys, high definition laser scanning & dimensional control surveys etc.
- To conduct all company business in a professional manner.
- Perform other duties or tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- Standard Grade/ National 5 in Geography, English and Maths preferred.
- GCSE from Maths, English and Geography.
- Clean driving license desirable.
- Able to work outdoors throughout the UK.
- Able to work away from home for up to 2 weeks at a time (when required).
- Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others.
- Attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
- PC literate – able to use word processing and spreadsheet packages.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills including technical report writing.
- Ability to work both independently and within teams.
- Must hold a valid passport free from status or restrictive conditions that preclude travel to and work in countries where the Company routinely operates.
- Flexibility to work away from home with limited notice.
- Enthusiasm and resourcefulness.
