This approach mitigates risks in delivery, installation, and operations across the lifecycle, reducing mooring lifecycle costs and safeguarding major operations that protect start-up schedules when mooring and mooring intervention are on the project or production critical path.
InterMoor is actively seeking to add a Geotechnical Engineer - Anchor Solutions to their Team in Aberdeen on a full-time, permanent basis. The right candidate will contribute to the development of anchor products and services for the Acteon Mooring & Anchors segment through performance of geotechnical analysis, research & development and consultancy services.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support product research and development from concept to market including development of analytical techniques, completion/coordination geotechnical lab testing and performance of detailed engineering activities. Support fabrication and full-scale testing of completed products.
- Completion of engineering consultancy services, as relates to all anchor types, in accordance with client and company expectations, ensuring quality of work, completion on time and in budget and compliance of contractual requirements.
- Carry out engineering activities, such as geotechnical assessment and structural analysis, as applicable with discipline.
- Perform calculations for the specification of the type and size of drag embedment and vertical load anchors.
- Liaise with the drawing department for preparation of design drawings.
- Prepare deliverables to clients.
- Contribute to advancing the technical competence of the engineering team, with a focus on structural design and analysis.
- Prepare cost estimates and technical proposals in response to enquiries from clients.
- Provide technical support in responding to RFQ/ITT for product sales/rental including identification of best technical solution that meets client requirements, detailing associated specification, engineering and cost estimates.
- Provide technical advice in response to internal/external queries related to design, installation and operations of anchoring systems.
- Interface with clients, vendors and third party contractors as required.
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in industry codes and standards on mooring systems design.
- Undertake quality assurance activities and contribute to improving the existing system where possible.
- Assist QHSE advisor in ensuring certification/compliance of products delivered.
- Attend geotechnical laboratory operations, onshore inspections/tests and offshore operations etc as required.
Requirements:
- Degree in relevant Engineering discipline (Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or similar field).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the offshore energy industry.
- Practical knowledge of the following topics and related industry codes and standards:
- Geotechnical data assessment and geotechnical analysis for offshore/subsea foundations.
- Structural analysis and design for offshore/subsea structures.
- Design, fabrication, operation and installation of anchor solutions.
- Design and operation of offshore mooring systems.
- Knowledge of offshore engineering codes such as DNV, ISO, API or other international codes.
- Competent user of the following engineering software packages including creation and reviewing of models:
- Geotechnical engineering software (such as PLAXIS).
- Drag anchor assessment software (such as DIGIN).
- Pile analysis software (such as LPILE, OPILE, RSPILE).
- Structural analysis software (such as ANSYS).
- Computer aided design and drafting software (2D or 3D).
- Understanding of recognised UK and International quality standards eg ISO 9001.
- Proficiency in writing technical reports and presentations.
- Project management experience including tendering, financial, scheduling & creating deliverables.
- Problem solving, decision making and analytical abilities.
- Excellent levels of communication skills in both written and spoken format.
- Ability to travel internationally and offshore.
