About the role:
Your role will be to design, develop, and support the delivery of high-quality industrial control panels and control systems across various projects, primarily in the food and beverage sector. You will see your work drive real improvements for our leading clients in the UK and internationally.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design industrial control panels, MCCs, and automation hardware according to customer specifications, safety standards (IEC, UL, BS EN), and project requirements.
- Create detailed hardware schematics, block diagrams, general arrangements, and wiring schedules.
- Produce accurate hardware documentation, equipment lists, cable schedules, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Collaborate with project managers, control system engineers, and panel technicians for seamless project delivery.
- Support procurement and address technical queries during assembly, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Participate in hardware design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Engage professionally with clients, suppliers, and colleagues, focusing on solutions.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience designing industrial control panels, MCCs, or automated hardware for process or manufacturing industries.
- Experience with CAD software and creating electrical schematics, with a methodical approach to design, documentation, and version control.
- Knowledge of industry standards for control panel design (e.g., BS EN 61439, IEC 60204, UL508A) and electrical safety practices.
- Working knowledge of electrical components such as PLCs, relays, safety devices, VSDs, HMIs, and related equipment.
- Relevant engineering qualification (HNC, HND, Degree) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork and customer support.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Experience in the food and beverage industry is advantageous.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Customer-facing experience, liaising with suppliers and clients.
- Proven ability to manage quick-turnaround technical projects.
