As a Functional Safety Engineer at Actemium Design, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering complex and challenging nuclear and non-nuclear projects. As part of the CE&I Engineering team, you’ll be responsible for the development and delivery of engineering designs for a range of systems with significant and challenging functional safety requirements.
Scope of Role
- Working closely with mechanical, process and safety case engineers to develop clear and unambiguous functional safety requirements
- Delivering innovative engineering solutions to meet the defined requirements
- Producing and checking technical reports, calculations, and design basis documentation
- Supporting fault identification through HAZOP/HAZID studies
- Supporting ALARP workshops and optioneering studies to support risk reduction
What you’ll need
- Demonstrable experience applying functional safety / safety case methodologies in regulated or high-hazard sectors
- Strong understanding of IEC standards: 61508, 61511, and 61513
- Ability to justify engineering decisions using risk-based thinking
- Familiarity with planning and project delivery processes across complex engineering environments
