Actemium Automation Nottingham, part of VINCI Energies, is seeking a Business Development Manager to grow our automation services and solutions within manufacturing, process and regulated sectors. You will be responsible for developing new client relationships, managing strategic accounts and supporting commercial growth across the region. This role combines technical understanding of industrial automation with commercial acumen and will suit an experienced, commercially focused professional comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders.

The Role

  • Identify, pursue and win new business opportunities for Actemium’s automation, controls and systems integration services.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, acting as the primary commercial contact and trusted advisor.
  • Lead proposal development, including preparing commercial bids, quotations, statements of work and value propositions in collaboration with technical teams.
  • Manage the sales pipeline and forecast revenue to achieve regional growth targets and business plan objectives.
  • Work closely with engineering, project management and delivery teams to ensure commercial commitments align with technical scope and delivery capability.
  • Represent Actemium at client meetings, industry events and conferences to raise our profile and generate leads.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and contractual arrangements, ensuring company policies and risk controls are applied.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of sales processes, CRM usage and marketing initiatives.

About You

  • Proven track record in business development, sales or account management within industrial automation, controls, engineering or related sectors.
  • Solid understanding of systems like PLC, SCADA, HMI and MES, with the confidence to work closely with technical teams.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills with experience preparing bids, commercial terms and contractual documentation.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to influence senior client contacts and internal teams.
  • Self-motivated, able to manage a sales pipeline, prioritise activity and work to targets.
  • Proficient with CRM systems and standard office tools (MS Office).
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites across the region.

Desirable: Experience working within VINCI Energies, an understanding of regulated sectors (food, pharmaceutical, energy, chemical) or familiarity with procurement and tender processes for industrial projects.
