Actemium M&E Support Office is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Finance Apprentice to join our Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to start a career in finance within a leading engineering services business, gaining valuable hands-on experience while studying towards a recognised accounting qualification.
Working alongside experienced finance professionals, including the Management Accountant and Financial Controller, you will develop practical skills across key areas of finance and gain exposure to the day-to-day operations of a busy finance department.
The Role
As a Finance Apprentice, you will support the Finance team in the effective running of the Business Unit, ensuring financial and administrative processes are completed accurately and efficiently. You will gain valuable experience across accounts payable, supplier management, payment processing, and business administration while working towards your professional qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable
- Set up new suppliers and subcontractors in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain accurate supplier records and master data.
- Process purchase orders and supplier invoices.
- Assist with maintaining financial records and ensuring data accuracy.
- Respond to supplier queries in a professional and timely manner.
- Supplier Reconciliations
- Perform regular supplier statement reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and payment queries.
- Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve outstanding issues.
- Payment Processing
- Assist with preparing and processing BACS payment runs.
- Ensure supplier payments are processed accurately and within agreed payment terms.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and audit trails.
- Business Administration
- Support the smooth running of the Business Unit through general administrative duties.
- Create and update documents, reports, and spreadsheets.
- Maintain effective filing systems and company records.
- Ensure processes are followed in line with company quality standards and internal controls.
- Take a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience
- Planning to undertake, or currently undertaking, an AAT qualification or equivalent Finance Apprenticeship.
- GCSEs in English and Maths grade 4/C or above.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Friendly and approachable with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and on your own initiative.
- Strong organisational and customer service skills.
- Eagerness to learn and develop professionally.
