The Role
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our design team. You will develop high‑quality electrical designs for control panels, distribution systems and building services, ensuring full compliance with relevant standards. The role involves collaboration with project managers, installation teams and clients, plus occasional site visits across the VINCI Energies network.
Key Responsibilities
- Create electrical design drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and layouts using CAD/EDM tools.
- Produce BOMs, cable schedules, equipment lists and technical specifications.
- Ensure compliance with BS EN, IEC and BS 7671 standards.
- Work with project teams and attend design reviews.
- Support procurement with technical clarification and vendor details.
- Assist installation and commissioning teams with technical queries.
- Maintain accurate design records and revision control.
- Contribute to standardisation and continuous improvement across the VINCI Energies group.
Working Environment
A blend of office‑based design work and on‑site visits to workshops and live environments. PPE will be provided; all work must follow VINCI Energies’ health, safety and environmental procedures.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential
- HNC/HND or BEng/BSc in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in electrical design for industrial or commercial projects.
- Strong CAD and schematic design skills (AutoCAD, EPlan, etc).
- Solid understanding of BS 7671 and IEC/EN standards.
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation and BOMs.
- Strong communicator with excellent organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience with control panels, MCCs, VSDs, PLCs and HMI systems.
- Knowledge of surge protection, earthing and cable sizing.
- Sector experience in food & beverage, pharma or manufacturing.
- Membership of IET, IMechE or similar.
- An understanding of functional safety principles and compliance requirements within electrical system design.
