Key Responsibilities β Mechanical Pipe Fitting & Installation Careers
- Install, fabricate and assemble piping systems, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and other materials, using isometric drawings and P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams).
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe accurately using hand tools, power tools and welding equipment.
- Conduct the prefabrication of piping spools in the workshop as well as onsite installation.
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure safe and high-quality construction.
- Perform pressure testing, flushing, and completing system checks in compliance with relevant standards.
- Work collaboratively with welders, engineers and project teams to ensure timely project delivery.
- Maintain excellent health, safety and environmental standards at all times.
- Liaise with clients and site contacts, representing Actemium with professionalism and a focus on service excellence.
Essential Skills & Experience β Pipe Fitter Job Requirements
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Pipe Fitting, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent apprenticeship/industry qualification.
- Proven experience in pipe fitting within industrial, commercial or process environments (e.g. energy, water, food, manufacturing or similar).
- Competent in reading and working from isometric and general arrangement drawings.
- Practical skills in cutting, threading and bending pipes as well as assembling complex piping systems.
- Strong awareness of health and safety regulations and working practices on construction and engineering sites.
- Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel to various client locations and project sites.
- Ability to work effectively within a diverse team and independently, with excellent attention to detail.
- Outstanding communication and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Experience β Welded Pipework, Industrial Projects & Mechanical Fit Out
- Experience with pipe welding (e.g. TIG, MMA, MIG) or working closely with welders.
- CCNSG Safety Passport, CSCS or other related site safety certification (training can be provided).
- Previous exposure to major mechanical installation projects or shutdown/turnaround works.
- Familiarity with pressure testing, hydrotesting, and plant commissioning procedures.
