This is a permanent SHEQ Apprentice role reporting to the Head of SHEQ. The role is ideal for enthusiastic individuals interested in launching a career in health and safety, environmental management, and quality assurance within the M&E engineering sector. You will receive hands-on training, practical experience, and ongoing professional support while working toward industry-recognised qualifications.
What Youβll Do β Responsibilities
- Assist with the implementation and continual improvement of SHEQ policies, procedures, and management systems in line with legislation and company standards.
- Support site teams with risk assessments, COSHH assessments, site safety inspections, audits, and toolbox talks.
- Help to ensure all incidents, accidents, and near-misses are reported and assist with investigations as needed.
- Promote a positive culture of health, safety, environmental awareness, and quality standards among all team members and subcontractors.
- Assist in maintaining SHEQ records, compiling reports, and analysing performance data and trends.
- Attend SHEQ meetings, training sessions, and industry events as part of your learning and development.
- Support the development and delivery of SHEQ-related training and communications across the business.
- Keep up to date with latest SHEQ best practices and relevant legislation.
- Contribute positively to site operations, working closely with operational and engineering teams to ensure compliance and continual improvement.
What Weβre Looking For β Qualifications and Attributes
- A genuine interest in health, safety, environment and quality, and a desire to start a career in M&E engineering.
- Five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4/C or above, including English, Maths, and a science/technology subject.
- Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to engage with people at all levels.
- Organised, detail-oriented, and willing to learn new skills.
- Proficient IT skills (email, Word, Excel).
- Positive attitude towards safety, compliance, and personal development.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to challenges.
- Full UK Driving Licence as travel will be required visiting various site and Business units.
Working Environment
Work will take place at a variety of locations, including office, workshop, and live industrial sites. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided. You will be required to follow strict safety protocols and work collaboratively as part of the wider project team.
