About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer / Geologist to join a Ground Investigation (GI) team in Basingstoke. You’ll be part of an established, enthusiastic group delivering ground investigation and geotechnical services across the UK, with opportunities to support international projects across highways, rail, nuclear, energy and environmental sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise and deliver ground investigation projects across the UK.
- Act as Site Agent or Logging Supervisor on medium to large‑scale GI projects (land & overwater).
- Complete soil and rock logging to BS5930:2015 standards.
- Produce and maintain accurate site records, data and reporting.
- Prepare Health & Safety documentation and promote safe site operations.
- Liaise with clients, engineers and main contractors during project delivery.
- Support proposal writing, tender visits and scoping of new contracts.
- Assist with monthly project financial accounts and performance tracking.
About You
Essential:
- Degree in a geotechnical or related discipline.
- 5–10 years’ relevant ground investigation / geotechnical experience.
- Experience working overwater (UK or overseas).
- Good understanding of GI specifications, techniques, standards and H&S requirements.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Working towards Chartered status and/or RoGEP.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, flexibility and the ability to multi‑task.
Desirable:
- Experience in a fast‑paced office environment.
- Familiarity with HoleBASE SI and AGS4 data formats.
- Aware of ICE/NEC contracts and their administration.
