Role

As a Web Frontend Engineer, you will build the core web experiences, including Chat, Notes, Calendar, Docs and Sheets.

You will own complex, highly interactive product surfaces from architecture through implementation, working closely with product, design, backend and AI engineers to make AI a native part of how users communicate, write, organise and work.

  • What You'll Own
  • Build major web experiences across Chat, Notes, Calendar, Docs, and Sheets.
  • Develop complex interactions including real-time messaging, collaborative editing, rich-text editing, scheduling, tables, and spreadsheets.
  • Build reusable frontend architecture and components that work consistently across Act AI applications.
  • Integrate streaming AI responses, proactive actions, and model-driven experiences directly into product workflows.
  • Own frontend performance, responsiveness, reliability and accessibility across browsers and devices.
  • Work closely with product and design to take ideas from prototype to production quickly.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong experience building complex, production web applications using React, Type Script and modern frontend technologies.
  • Deep understanding of frontend architecture, state management, browser APIs, and performance.
  • Experience building highly interactive products such as chat, collaboration, productivity, document editing, calendars, or workspaces.
  • Experience with real-time systems, Web Sockets, streaming APIs, or collaborative interfaces.
  • Strong product and UI judgment with attention to interaction details.
  • Able to independently own features from technical design through production.
  • Outcomes
  • Users can communicate, write, organise and collaborate seamlessly across Chat, Notes, Calendar, Docs and Sheets.
  • Complex interactions such as group messaging, editing, scheduling and collaboration feel fast and reliable.
  • AI capabilities are integrated naturally into product workflows rather than added as separate chatbot experiences.
  • Frontend architecture remains fast, maintainable and reusable as Act AI expands into new applications and workflows.
  • Tech Stack
  • Type Script
  • React. js / Next. js
  • HTML / CSS
  • Web Sockets / streaming APIs
  • Node. js
  • REST / Graph QL APIs

How to prepare for a job interview at ActAI

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If ActAI uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
