About the Role

At ACT, our behaviour framework shapes everything we do. We are looking for a Skills Tutor who demonstrates genuine respect for every learner, communicates with openness and integrity, and brings creativity to engage young people who may have faced barriers to education. You will be motivated to inspire and empower learners to progress, while maintaining clarity in your planning, decision-making and communication. You will deliver engaging learning and support on our JGW+ programme, primarily based at our Barry Centre with regular travel to Bridgend when required. In this role, you will work with young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), supporting them to develop essential skills, confidence and employability through both accredited learning and enrichment activities. You will build positive, professional relationships with learners and colleagues, contributing to a safe, supportive and inclusive environment. A learner‑centred approach is essential, with delivery adapted to individual needs to support progression into positive destinations.

You will plan and deliver structured sessions, manage learner progression, maintain accurate records, work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners, and consistently apply ACT’s Behaviour Framework in your day‑to‑day practice.

ACT is committed to promoting the Welsh language for both staff and learners; while not essential, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver engaging sessions in essential skills (including maths, English and life skills)
  • Plan and deliver structured learning and enrichment activities that support progression and employability
  • Organise meaningful experiences such as trips, workshops and guest speakers
  • Develop and review Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
  • Track, assess and monitor learner progress using internal systems
  • Identify and support learners at risk of disengagement
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, external agencies and support services
  • Contribute to curriculum development and improvement activities
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure safeguarding concerns are reported appropriately
  • Attend staff meetings, training and centre‑based activities
  • Travel between ACT centres as required

Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have experience teaching or delivering training in a learning environment
  • Have experience supporting young people, preferably NEET learners
  • Hold a good level of Maths and English GCSE C or above (spoken and written)
  • Have a good level of IT, literacy and numeracy skills
  • Exhibit strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Demonstrate initiative and embody ACT’s Behaviour Framework
  • Are able to speak Welsh (desired but not essential)
