Scope of Role

The Shipping and Receiving Operator is responsible for the accurate handling, storage and movement of goods. Responsible for maintaining stock accuracy, supporting timely order fulfilment and delivery, and ensuring all relevant documentation and systems are updated correctly. The position works collaboratively with the internal team and external suppliers to resolve queries and maintain service level standards across all warehouse activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pick customer orders accurately according to pick lists or system instructions.
  • Package finished goods safely and appropriately to prevent damage in transit.
  • Prepare and complete all required despatch paperwork, including delivery notes, labels, and shipping documentation.
  • Arrange courier collections and select appropriate shipping services based on order requirements.
  • Check outgoing goods against orders to maintain accuracy and reduce errors.
  • Maintain a clean, organised despatch area and follow all health and safety procedures.
  • Communicate with Sales Operations, Production to resolve issues or delays.
  • Track shipments when required.
  • Book incoming deliveries into the system promptly and accurately.
  • Check goods against purchase orders, delivery notes, and supplier documentation to confirm quantities and specifications.
  • Inspect items for damage, discrepancies, or quality issues and report any problems.
  • Record stock correctly in the inventory system, ensuring bin locations and quantities are updated.
  • Label and store received goods in the appropriate warehouse locations.
  • Communicate with purchasing, suppliers, or internal teams when deliveries are incomplete or incorrect.
  • Maintain a tidy, organised goods‑in area and follow all safety procedures.
