We are looking for a practical and motivated Mechanical Service Engineer to join our client’s Hire & Repair team. You will be responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of small tools, handheld equipment, and petrol/diesel-powered machinery used within the construction industry. This role would suit someone with strong mechanical experience, ideally gained within construction, plant, tool hire, or automotive environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain, and repair small tools and handheld equipment
  • Diagnose faults on petrol and diesel-powered tools and machinery
  • Carry out pre-hire inspections, safety checks, and routine servicing
  • Ensure equipment meets safety and compliance standards prior to hire
  • Accurately record servicing, inspections, and repair work
  • Maintain workshop cleanliness and follow health & safety procedures
  • Support the wider team to ensure equipment availability for customers
  • Assist in the warehouse when required

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical repair and servicing experience
  • Experience working with petrol and diesel tools/engines
  • Experience with construction equipment, tool hire, plant machinery, or power tools
  • Ability to diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs
  • Hands-on workshop experience with a good understanding of health & safety
  • Electrical fault finding, tool hire or merchant experience, automotive background, or relevant mechanical qualifications would be advantageous
