A well-established and rapidly growing food production business is seeking an experienced Stores & FLT Operative to join their dynamic team. This company has built a strong reputation for quality and service in the food industry, supplying high-end retailers and catering businesses across the UK. This role is essential to the smooth running of operations, involving stock handling, inventory control, and forklift operation within a fast-paced and regulated environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, check, and organise incoming stock, ensuring accurate labelling and allergen compliance.
- Operate forklifts and other MHE safely and efficiently (including gas handling).
- Maintain accurate stock levels through regular cycle counts and inventory checks.
- Load and unload goods with care and precision.
- Support the wider production team with timely supply of materials, packaging, and chemicals.
- Perform batch coding and data entry for stock control and traceability.
- Reorder materials in line with production demand to avoid disruption.
- Manage site security protocols during operational hours.
- Complete due diligence and GMP paperwork to audit-ready standards.
- Handle deliveries and returns of gas canisters and chemicals following safety procedures.
Requirements
- Proven experience in stores, warehousing, or logistics within a manufacturing or food production environment.
- Valid forklift licence - counterbalance (essential); Bendi licence highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of health and safety in a warehouse setting.
- Comfortable working in cold environments and able to meet physical demands of the role.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.
- Team player with strong communication skills.
- Basic food hygiene knowledge (advantageous).
