Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum

Shift Patterns:

  • Days: 6:00am – 6:00pm | 4 on / 4 off
  • Nights: 9:00pm – 6:00am | Sunday – Thursday

The Opportunity:

We are recruiting for an experienced Electrical Biased Maintenance Engineer to join a leading regulated manufacturing business in Northampton. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a well-established engineering team responsible for maintaining high-speed production machinery in a modern manufacturing environment. You'll play a vital role in ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns, carrying out effective fault finding and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain and repair PLC-controlled, high-speed production and packaging machinery.
  • Work on a variety of equipment including industrial ovens, microwaves, HV transformers, slicers, sealers, metal detectors, and refrigeration systems.
  • Support equipment optimisation, machine start-ups, and performance monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS system.
  • Complete detailed shift handovers and engineering reports.
  • Support and mentor apprentices and junior engineers where required.
  • Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety, food safety, and company procedures.

About You:

  • Time-served Electrical Engineer with a recognised apprenticeship.
  • Minimum of 3 years' post-apprenticeship maintenance experience.
  • Strong multi-skilled engineering background.
  • Experience within a regulated or high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Good working knowledge of PLCs, automation, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety and quality standards.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working with high-voltage systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial ovens or microwave technology.
