The Opportunity
A well-established and busy Northampton engineering business is looking to strengthen its machining team with experienced, time-served CNC Turners and CNC Millers (Setter/Operators). These are permanent opportunities for skilled machinists who know their way around a machine, take pride in producing quality work and aren’t afraid of a challenge. The successful candidates will be working on a varied range of engineering components and materials, including 316, 304, Duplex, Titanium, Hastelloy and other specialist materials. No two days are necessarily the same!
What They’ll Be Doing
- Setting and operating CNC Turning or Milling machinery
- Programming using Fanuc controls
- Producing components to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
- Reading and interpreting 2D engineering drawings
- Working with a wide range of materials, including stainless steels and specialist alloys
- Carrying out their own inspections and quality checks
- Measuring components accurately and maintaining tight tolerances
- Making adjustments to ensure components meet specification
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
What They’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will be an experienced, time-served CNC machinist with a strong background in either turning or milling. They’ll need:
- Proven CNC machining experience as a Turner or Miller
- Experience setting and operating CNC machinery
- Fanuc control experience
- The ability to program CNC machines
- Excellent ability to read and understand 2D engineering drawings – essential
- Experience working with materials such as 316, 304, Duplex, Titanium and Hastelloy
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to inspect their own work
- A quality-focused approach and pride in their workmanship
- The ability to work independently while also being part of a busy engineering team
Hours
The business operates a 38-hour working week, with overtime available when required. Candidates will work either:
Monday–Thursday: 6:00am–2:30pm or 7:00am–3:30pm
Friday: 6:00am–12:00pm
That means early finishes on a Friday and a great work-life balance!
